In 1788 the first platinum work of art was produced by Chabaneau's artisans. This platinum chalice was given to the Spanish King Carlos III in 1788 who presented it to Pope Pius VI. It is on public view in the Treasury at St. Peter's in Rome (Basilica di San Pietro in Vaticano, N 41° 54.13 E 12° 27.20).
